I was going to vote for Obama, but he's starting to march a little too inline with the democratic parties classic way of doing nothing but complain about what others are doing and not actually doing anything productive themselves. (how long have they cowtowed to the republican's for some reason while they've had the majority???)

2000 McCain i'd vote for, but 2008 McCain is committing the same "sin" as Obama in that now McCain is marching too in-step with the republican party.

If Obama would go back to being "primary" Obama, i'd vote for him in a second as would I vote for McCain if McCain would go back to being 2000 McCain.

In the end Ron Paul is probably the best candidate, but sadly has no chance of actually getting elected.

I think Obama will win by virtue of the fact that he is young and a great speaker (and sadly the latter of those two things are about all one needs to be a successful politician). McCain's only shot is going back to being 2000 McCain. He'll still get the republican votes if he does so, but he will also *steal* some dem voters. He's also going to *steal* some women voters due to Palin. More so the more the dem's keep villinizing everything with her. Eventually people will get sick of it and start to feel sympathy for her and this is the downfall of the democratic party's presidential elections the last two elections. They take things too far. Focus too much on others faults and not enough about what makes them the better party.

That and they constantly insult the "reds", and more importantly the voters themselves and not just the politicians. Notice the republican politicians tend to limit themselves to insult their opponent politicians, not the "blues" in general (referring to the voters as well).

I once heard a prominent democratic politician during the 2004 elections say on national tv "Why do the people in the red states vote republican when they are poor and you'd have to be an idiot to vote republican given their economic status?" I thought to myself, "well because you've just gone on national tv and called them stupid and poor and you often do worse and insult them for many of their base beliefs".

So in the end Obama *should* win, but the Democrats may well screw it up for themselves as they often do in recent years.

*note: I am neither democrat nor republican

It's yet again another situation where we have to choose between the lesser of two evils, though I have to say Obama seems less evil than most of our recent choices. However, he leans a little too much towards a socialistic society and that is a little concerning. It's the government propping up businesses that should fail that got us into this mess. Let it fail, then within a couple years businesses will swoop in and fill the void under a capitalist system and the government saves a trillion plus in the process. Instead they prop it up using a socialist type system and all that happens is the dollar gets devalued and the national debt rises. Sure maybe we avoid the huge crash for a while, but in the end due to the dollar being devalued the crash will be bigger and worse than ever. And with the national debt at its current level within 10 years the U.S. will only collect enough money through taxes just to pay the interest on its debt. No schools, no roads, no military, no money for anything else. (this is what the nations lead accountant is saying not me).

So it really is too bad Ron Paul didn't win out the republican nomination. He could have fixed it. Instead we just have to hope Obama sees that continuing further into a socialist regime, is not the answer.
