I just watched the film, SiCKO from Michael Moore and am honestly impressed. Previously I was not a Michael Moore fan, but I changed my mind after viewing this movie.

Moore began the film pointing out America's flawed health care system. This part of the movie did not move me that much because I have recently had to use this flawed system for an injury this year. Moore pointed out that people get sick in America and have to pay copays and deductibles. Sometimes these costs get out of hand and people lose their houses and other possessions. I've heard all of this before and sad as it was, unmoved.

Moore took his filming to Canada to show the way that Canadians receive health care. I've also heard this end of the story living close to Canada and was impressed that there are no costs involved with visiting the hospital. I do know that more taxes are taken out of their wages to accommodate such a convenience.

Moore also filmed in Great Britain and France to show that they too enjoy a universal health care system. This is the point in the movie where I became frustrated. French citizens enjoy free health care, a minimum of 5 weeks paid vacation, unlimited sick days, government paid nannies that will cook, clean, a.d.d. your laundry and our politicians tell us to look at France with disdain. On the contrary. It seems that us as American citizens are too proud to look at what is occurring in our country. We don't notice nations like Cuba moving ahead of us as far as being healthy and receiving health care goes.

A great movie that every person in the world should see. Not just Americans to see how far we are truly lagging, but other countries to see that our nation is not so great.
