Not hilarious to lose a husband, Posted: 8 months ago
This depicts my late husband being lovingly carried to his final resting place by his Shrine clown colleagues. They share a brotherhood that few will ever understand, and are providing a service to our family and their former Unit Director. Scooter was elected to this position of leadership even though his health necessitated his riding a motorized wheel chair the last four years of his life. Even so, on Saturdays he put on his costume and make-up and participated in parades to raise awareness of the special needs of the children in Shriners Hospitals for Children. On Sunday afternoons they again dress, make-up, and visit the hospital. Their only reward, and the only one they seek is the smile of a frightened child facing surgery the next morning, or a child with such physical challenges that he cannot sit or stand and must be moved in a wagon, or a child so badly burned he may not live through the night.
This gentleman lived a life of service, and I request that this photo be removed from this site allowing him the respect he deserves. I hope that my granddaughters will never see this used in this way and relive our horrific loss as I have. Thank you.
